At their meeting in June 2024, the Trellis Foundation board of directors approved more than $3 million in new grant awards, including:

  • A $370,000 grant to the Alliance for College & Career Student Success (ACCSS) to support a partnership between six rural school districts and Blinn College District. The ACCSS project offers academic/career support for students of diverse backgrounds, ensuring equal opportunities for all to earn college credits or workforce credentials.
  • A grant of $1.27 million to Action Network for Equitable Wellbeing (ANEW) to establish and facilitate the Texas Higher Education (THE) Collaborative for Wellbeing to improve student mental health and wellbeing outcomes among four-year public universities.
  • $250,000 to support Collegiate Edu-Nation in their work to equip rural Texans with apprenticeships and post-secondary education, fostering sustainable careers and driving economic development in rural communities.
  • A $150,000 grant to Excelencia in Education to accelerate Latino student success in higher education and the workforce and to document Latino student success at the University of Texas-El Paso as an example for higher education leaders across Texas and the nation.
  • Grants of $300,000 each to the Texas Tribune and Open Campus to support reporting and coverage of higher education in Texas that informs the public and policymakers on education access and completion
  • A $255,000 award to the University of Texas at Austin College of Education for research linking survey and state administrative data on dual enrollment (also called dual credit) in Texas to transform the high school-to-college transition.
