At their September 2024 meeting, the Trellis Foundation Board of Directors approved over $2 million in grants, bringing the total giving for the Foundation’s fiscal year to $10.6 million.
Approved grants include awards to:
Region One Education Service Center: $450,000 to re-engage students ages 18-26 and assist them with earning a high school diploma and post-secondary credential, paving the way to successful careers.
The Higher Education Equity Network (HEEN): $350,000 to equip the postsecondary field to understand the impacts of the anti-DEI climate and develop the support and resources needed to ensure accessible opportunities for all students to achieve their educational and career goals.
The University of Texas at San Antonio: $350,000 for Texas Education Justice Alliance-South (TEJA-S) to develop a prison-to-university completion pathway in South-Central Texas.
The University of Texas at El Paso: $195,694 to help students overcome financial hurdles that threaten their academic persistence to a degree through the UTEP emergency fund.
Education to Employment Partners (E2E): $350,000 to empower Opportunity Youth and Young Adults (OYYA) in the Coastal Bend Region of Texas by providing educational and career support services to help them overcome barriers and achieve economic mobility.
NPower: $200,000 to provide free tech training and wraparound support services to military-connected individuals and young adults from under-resourced communities and access to high-demand, high-wage careers through their Tech Fundamentals program.
Cameron County Education Initiative (CCEI): $100,000 for the organization’s work providing zero-debt career training and job placement in high-demand healthcare careers for the Rio Grande Valley.
Project QUEST: $100,000 to prepare underserved individuals for living-wage careers by connecting them with tailored education and training programs.
